The previous advanced overhead-cam inline-four engine was now not in use by any other production car so it was replaced by the MPJG unit from the Wolseley 10 but with twin SU carburettors, modified camshaft and manifold. The engine displaced just 1292 cc, and power output was 50 hp. The four-speed manual gearbox now had synchromesh on the two top ratios and was connected to the engine by a cork-faced clutch running in oil. Unlike the PB, hydraulic brakes were fitted with 9-inch drums.
This is a stunning example with a thorough documentation of bills and work carried out. The last owner looked after the car from 1980 until 2017. While the car is not perfect they don’t come much better than this. This is a very tidy car that has been sympathetically restored to a very good standard. The bodywork and paint are not of a concours standard but as you would expect on a good, usable car that can be improved and detailed further over time. The upholstery has been re-trimmed and presents very well. Full weather equipment is present and the car sits on a good set of painted wires.
The TA is a delight on the road with a strong engine giving very good performance. The gearbox is very nice to use and the car sails along gracefully making the car a delight to drive.
